Background
Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is a non-profit organization that promotes socio-economic development by supporting global health and economic initiatives in Nigeria. It was established as indigenous organizational, registered in 2009 with its headquarter in Abuja, and presence in the four geopolitical regions of Nigeria. It aims to provide technical assistance to the government and people of Nigeria in the implementation of public health and development programs.
The Global Fund Grant Cycle (GC7) is to ensure a coordinated and intensive effort to scale up the prevention, identification, and treatment of HIV in both general and key populations in Anambra state. The focus will be on facility and community-based approaches to reach epidemic control, and in addition, ensure improvement in the coverage of pregnant women on ART as well as target KP and AGYW programs.
Hence, the consultant will support the implementation of the GC7 grant at the one stop shop.
Key roles:
The services of the consultant will include but not limited to the following:
- Provide psychosocial and continuous support as well as treatment preparation to clients in the OSS.
- Provide counselling services including risk reduction counselling, harm reduction counselling, post-GBV counselling, or contraceptive/family planning counselling as required.
- Identify and address challenges/barriers to adherence.
- Organize and facilitate support group sessions for KPLHIV including groups with special needs e.g., discordant couples, youth/adolescent, and children.
- Address aspects of behaviour change in relation to HIV and ART
- Support clients to voluntarily disclose their HIV status.
- Facilitate the delivery of relevant information to clients enrolled in OSS.
- Participate in home visits as appropriate to execute plan of care for clients.
- Ensure client records are well maintained and compile periodic reports as necessary.
- Ensure proper referral of clients where necessary including following up and reporting on the outcomes as necessary.
- Coordinates patient tracking activities supported by the OSS & community Case Managers including documentation and reporting of defaulter tracing activities.
- Receiving clients to the clinic
- Provide HTS services (pre-and post-test counselling, HIV testing)
- Follow-up with clients on referrals
- Distribute condoms, lubricant, needles/syringes, and other commodities.
- Maintaining client record.
Recruitments:
- HND, B.Sc, or BA with 2 – 3 years’ experience providing care and support for PLHIV.
- Literate in both English language and local dialect.
- Preferably expert on clients and/or social workers and retired health workers who have relevant knowledge and skills.
- Basic Knowledge of HIV and AIDS epidemiology and complications.
- Proficient HIV Testing and Counselling Skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to function effectively in multi-disciplinary teams to produce excellent results under pressure.
