AHNi currently has its headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.

To strengthen our operations and interventions in the country, we are seeking qualified candidates for the following position:

TECHNICAL ASSISTANT-M&E: will be engaged to support planning, review and implementation of core M&E activities with the view of ensuring highest data quality for evidence-based decision making and program improvement across ACE supported facilities. S/He will support coordination and oversight functions on strengthening health information systems through strategic information processes and innovations at the state level and across AHNi supported facilities and in line with PEPFAR and USAID guidelines. Provide support to sites in the state, including interacting with site Program Managers, M&E focal points, M&E officers of SACA/SASCP, other Implementing Agencies and local research groups on needs and ensuring that these parties understand and can support these requirements. Also, s/he will work with program and technical staff to support the correct implementation and use of monitoring and evaluation tools, and adherence to complete, correct and timely reporting, ensuring that the quality of program/project activities adheres to SOPs by supporting the development and implementation of appropriate mechanisms to ensure quality.

Minimum Recruitment Standard:

  • MBBS/MD, BSc/BA in Statistics, Pharmacy, Microbiology, Physiology or other health-related degrees with 1-year post-NYSC work experience.
  • Master’s degree in public health, Health Informatics, Epidemiology, or other relevant disciplines will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in project-level or state/national-level monitoring and evaluation system implementation for Global Health Initiatives.

COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST: The Communications Specialist will support the ‘Accelerating Control of the HIV Epidemic in Nigeria project (ACE – 1) project by managing all internal and external communications of the project and representing the project to external audiences. H/She should possess exceptional public speaking and writing skills. H/She is expected to be a strategic thinker with meticulous attention to detail, working well under pressure, and meeting deadlines. H/She should be able to write, compile publications, plan events and prepare advocacy briefs. H/She will be responsible for developing quality and visually appealing presentations, content management for AHNi website and Social Media channels, communication materials through graphic design and web optimization solutions. The successful candidate must possess excellent organizational skills and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of internal and external communications strategies for the organization.
  • Support maintenance of social media platforms, databases, and knowledge management systems
  • Provide support towards content development for AHNi ACE – 1. Assist in the production of day-to-day content across all AHNi’s communications platforms, focusing on newsletter and digital content, website articles, blogs, press releases and updates and content for social media.
  • In coordination with all AHNi projects, develop regular communication material highlighting ACE - 1 activities and achievements and/or engagements.
  • Assist in rolling out media events such as press conferences/media briefings, external interviews with media houses, campaigns, etc.
  • Draft, translate and disseminate media products (media advisories, press releases, brief notes, etc.).
  • Development of communication materials for marketing and awareness-raising campaigns, including briefing materials and press releases in coordination with the ACE – 1 project management team and AHNi Senior leadership.
  • Review of reference materials, identification of reference materials for retention. Maintenance of information database and photo library.
  • Take part in communication activities including information campaigns where applicable (World AIDS Day, etc.)
  • In collaboration with other Program team, assist in identifying and drafting success stories and compiling lessons learnt.
  • Assist in implementing social media strategy and campaign, including content development, dialogue monitoring as well as feedback collection.
  • Updating and maintaining online platforms, support design of content including graphic designs for digital distribution.
  • Content development and design of high-quality Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials, factsheets, and other publications.
  • Deliver creative infographics and technical solutions for print, electronic and animated presentations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and experience with strategic communication on HIV prevention, care and treatment.
  • Brand management and ability to create new ideas, products, including creative contributions.
  • Exceptional creative and adaptive writing skills that cuts across writing and review of program reports, success stories, advocacy briefs and preparation of scene setters.
  • Design and graphics skill and ability to represent program results with graphics, messaging to diverse audiences, identification of the best suited communication channels based on target audience, and dissemination techniques and methods.
  • Ability to work in a team under tight deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
  • Very good mastery of English. Ability to understand and communicate in Hausa, Kanuri and Fulfulde will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in the use of computer applications related to the tasks.
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Experience working with local NGOs, INGOs and government bodies would be an advantage.
  • Ability to pay meticulous attention to detail.

Minimum Recruitment Standard:

  • Industry’s certification and membership.

The Global Fund Grant Cycle (GC7) is to ensure a coordinated and intensive effort to scale up the prevention, identification, and treatment of HIV in both general and key populations in Anambra state. The focus will be on facility and community-based approaches to reach epidemic control, and in addition, ensure improvement in the coverage of pregnant women on ART as well as target KP and AGYW programs.

Hence, the consultant will support the implementation of the GC7 grant at the one-stop shop.

Key roles:

The services of the consultant will include but not limited to the following:

  • Dispense Antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) and other medication in line with approved regimens and standards.
  • Providing medication-related counselling, including reinforcing adherence and advising on potential   side effects and drug interactions
  • Working with providers and clients to identify, manage, and report adverse drug reactions and drug interactions.
  • Contributing to decision making on treatment and care for individual clients
  • Ensure Good Pharmaceutical Practice (GPP) and standards in the OSS.
  • Monitor ARV and other drug (STIs, OIs, etc.) stock levels at the community level and communicate with the project team for re-stocking.
  • Contribute to forecasting /quantification of health commodities and monitoring of drug distributions in the OSS.
  • Oversee drug logistics i.e., stock-taking, proper drug storage, drug stock out in health facilities and monitor the effectiveness of the pull system.
  • Oversee quality assurance systems at the facility level by close monitoring of prescription patterns, ensuring proper documentation, side effects monitoring (pharmacovigilance) and reducing dispensing errors.

Recruitments:

  • University Degree in Bachelors of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) with 2 - 3 years post qualification experience in HIV/AID programs
  • Experience in supporting Supply Chain processes and information flows.
  • Experience working with Key populations is essential.
  • Work experience in logistics, preferably in an NGO setting.
  • Fluency in English; excellent communication and report writing skills required.
  • Ability to use key computing applications e g MS Office Suite etc and knowledge of different databases (DHIS or NMRS) is a plus.

Key roles:

The services of the consultant will include but not limited to the following:

  • Provide comprehensive triage (OSS and/or mobile) and clinical assessment service to key populations resulting in safe and appropriate clinical decisions that reflect their healthcare needs.
  • Facilitate the triage process using clinical knowledge and appropriate interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy, and understanding.
  • Initiate appropriate nursing interventions (e.g. first aid and emergency interventions) to improve client outcomes and secure the safety of clients and clinic staff
  • Ensure continuous reassessment and management of clients who remain in the waiting room commensurate with their condition and time frames determined by the assigned care category.
  • Carry out wound management procedures for PWIDs
  • Schedule client appointments for routine or follow up care and treatment.
  • Document accurate and concise clinical summary that outlines reasons for visit, decisions reached, relevant client history and follow up appointments with timescale given to client.
  • Monitor and report weekly enrolment.
  • Keep health care providers informed by communicating availability or unavailability of the record.
  • Support the monitoring and reporting of medication errors, suspected adverse reactions to medicines, and other medication-related events.

Recruitments:

  • Degree in Nursing / Midwifery with 2 – 3 years’ experience in HIV/AIDS care and treatment
  • Experience working with Key Populations is essential.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to function effectively in multi-disciplinary teams to produce excellent results under pressure.

  • Facilitate group therapy and support group sessions in coordination with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Conduct home visits to provide further psycho-social support when needed.
  • Organize community, rehabilitation and awareness activities for beneficiaries and their families in coordination with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Attend and contribute to the weekly clinical supervision meeting.
  • Ensure the complete and updated filing of beneficiary information, including follow-up visits and referrals.
  • Assist in performing other tasks as requested.

Recruitments:

  • BA / B.Sc in Psychology (Masters Degree is an added advantage) with 2 – 3 years working in a HIV/AIDs program.
  • Experience working with Key Populations is essential.

Key roles:

  • Support the implementation of high-quality laboratory services including building laboratory capacity at the OSS to combat HIV, TB, malaria and other infectious diseases.
  • Provide support to state team to improve the quality of laboratory services available in the OSS in line with National guidelines.
  • Provide support related to the laboratory services and management component of HIV/AIDS care and treatment in OSS and DICs.
  • Coordinate the design, planning and implementation of the laboratory component of HIV/AIDS care and treatment, including ART in collaboration with OSS staff, senior technical officer.
  • Carry out quality control functions/ activities, in collaboration with the cluster teams, including quality control inspections schedules and the collection of quality control records; ensure the availability of high-quality documentation.
  • Develop quality control and quality assurance systems in collaboration with existing personnel and systems and ensure related documentation, training, and monitoring.

Recruitments:

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory sciences or related fields with 2-3 years post national youth service experience in provision of Laboratory support for HIV/AIDS. 
  • Knowledge of advanced Laboratory procedures, diagnosis and management related to PCR Lab.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian public sector health system such Teaching Hospitals and NGOs is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with Key Populations is essential.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to function effectively in multi-disciplinary teams to produce excellent results under pressure.

Key roles:

  • Provide ART services to Key Populations in line with current World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations and national guidelines both at the OSS and through mobile ART.
  • Oversee clinical HIV management interventions for key populations in the OSS
  • Review clinical records to evaluate the necessary level of client care.
  • Effectively manage and supervise other clinical team members, health service providers, volunteers and case managers at the OSS as well as DICs.
  • Supervise weekly/monthly clinical staff meetings, Integrate OSS and Community services with other project activities to enhance the achievement of project outcomes.
  • Provide support to the Strategic Information (SI) unit to manage data collection for service delivery to Key Populations in project communities using nationally approved tools.
  • Support for data analysis, interpretation and use at the OSS.
  • Use of data at facility level for decision making towards improve service delivery at the OSS.
  • Preparation of program reports, proactively seek out and report relevant opportunities, success stories, linkages or challenges that may promote clinical services for the project.
  • Carry out any assignment as assigned.

Recruitments:

  • MD, MBBS with 2 to 3 years post NYSC experience in clinical management of HIV/TB.
  • Possession of a post graduate degree in a related field is an added advantage.
  • Experience working with key population is essential.
  • Excellent ability to communicate and maintain productive relations with the team; resourcefulness, flexibility, and ability to work in a fast changing and challenging environment.
  • Ability to use key computing applications e g MS Office Suite etc and knowledge of different databases (DHIS or NMRS) is a plus.

  • Register and assist Clients to complete all necessary forms and documentation.
  • Move Clients through appointments as scheduled.
  • Answer incoming calls and deal with inquiries.
  • Transfer calls as required and Schedule Clients appointments.
  • Complete other clerical duties as assigned.
  • Maintain stock of forms and office supplies
  • Ensure reception area is well maintained, neat and clean.
  • Safeguard Clients privacy and confidentiality

Recruitments:

Key roles:

The services of the consultant will include but not limited to the following:

  • Provide psychosocial and continuous support as well as treatment preparation to clients in the OSS.
  • Provide counselling services including risk reduction counselling, harm reduction counselling, post-GBV counselling, or contraceptive/family planning counselling as required.
  • Identify and address challenges/barriers to adherence.
  • Organize and facilitate support group sessions for KPLHIV including groups with special needs e.g., discordant couples, youth/adolescent, and children.
  • Address aspects of behaviour change in relation to HIV and ART
  • Support clients to voluntarily disclose their HIV status.
  • Facilitate the delivery of relevant information to clients enrolled in OSS.
  • Participate in home visits as appropriate to execute plan of care for clients.
  • Ensure client records are well maintained and compile periodic reports as necessary.
  • Ensure proper referral of clients where necessary including following up and reporting on the outcomes as necessary.
  • Coordinates patient tracking activities supported by the OSS & community Case Managers including documentation and reporting of defaulter tracing activities.
  • Receiving clients to the clinic
  • Provide HTS services (pre-and post-test counselling, HIV testing)
  • Follow-up with clients on referrals
  • Distribute condoms, lubricant, needles/syringes, and other commodities.
  • Maintaining client record.

  • HND, B.Sc, or BA with 2 – 3 years’ experience providing care and support for PLHIV.
  • Literate in both English language and local dialect.

  • Support the implementation of high-quality laboratory services including building laboratory capacity at health facility sites to combat HIV, TB, malaria and other infectious diseases.
  • Provide support to facilities to improve the quality of laboratory services available in the facilities in line with National guidelines.
  • Provide support related to the laboratory services and management component of HIV/AIDS care and treatment in GF health facilities.
  • Coordinate the design, planning and implementation of the laboratory component of HIV/AIDS care and treatment, including ART in collaboration with facility staff, technical and senior technical officer.
  • Carry out quality control functions/ activities, in collaboration with the cluster team, including quality control inspections schedules and the collection of quality control records; ensure the availability of high-quality documentation.
  • Develop quality control and quality assurance systems in collaboration with existing personnel and systems and ensure related documentation, training, and monitoring.

  • Oversee capacity-building activities to transfer skills, knowledge, and technology to the Government of Nigeria staff and stakeholders at the individual, facility, and levels to lead the HIV response and create effective linkages between facility and community services.
  • Facilitate the clinical assessment of all patients diagnosed with HIV and ensure same-day commencement of treatment for eligible patients.
  • Facilitate diagnosis of advanced HIV disease and linkage to the appropriate treatment services.
  • Oversee the activities of the other ESM staff in the facility, including all categories of adhoc staff.
  • Be responsible for managing clients with complicated medical history and conditions.
  • With guidance from the Cluster Lead, represent AHNI in meetings, discussions, and relevant forums on issues related to HIV/TB prevention, treatment, and care.

  • Working with providers and clients to identify, manage, and report adverse drug reactions and drug interactions.
  • Contributing to decision making on treatment and care for individual clients
  • Ensure Good Pharmaceutical Practice (GPP) and standards.
  • Monitor ARV and other drug (STIs, OIs, etc.) stock levels at the community level and communicate with the project team for re-stocking.
  • Contribute to forecasting /quantification of health commodities and monitoring of drug distributions.
  • Oversee drug logistics i.e., stock-taking, proper drug storage, drug stock out in health facilities and monitor the effectiveness of the pull system
  • Oversee quality assurance systems at the facility level by close monitoring of prescription patterns, ensuring proper documentation, side effects monitoring (pharmacovigilance) and reducing dispensing errors.
