Background

Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is a non-profit organization that promotes socio-economic development by supporting global health and economic initiatives in Nigeria. It was established as indigenous organizational, registered in 2009 with its headquarter in Abuja, and presence in the four geopolitical regions of Nigeria.  It aims to provide technical assistance to the government and people of Nigeria in the implementation of public health and development programs.

The Global Fund Grant Cycle (GC7) is to ensure a coordinated and intensive effort to scale up the prevention, identification, and treatment of HIV in both general and key populations in Anambra state. The focus will be on facility and community-based approaches to reach epidemic control, and in addition, ensure improvement in the coverage of pregnant women on ART as well as target KP and AGYW programs.

Hence, the consultant will support the implementation of the GC7 grant at the one-stop shop.

Key roles:

The services of the consultant will include but not limited to the following:

  • Provide comprehensive triage (OSS and/or mobile) and clinical assessment service to key populations resulting in safe and appropriate clinical decisions that reflect their healthcare needs.
  • Facilitate the triage process using clinical knowledge and appropriate interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy, and understanding.
  • Initiate appropriate nursing interventions (e.g. first aid and emergency interventions) to improve client outcomes and secure the safety of clients and clinic staff
  • Ensure continuous reassessment and management of clients who remain in the waiting room commensurate with their condition and time frames determined by the assigned care category.
  • Carry out wound management procedures for PWIDs
  • Schedule client appointments for routine or follow up care and treatment.
  • Document accurate and concise clinical summary that outlines reasons for visit, decisions reached, relevant client history and follow up appointments with timescale given to client.
  • Monitor and report weekly enrolment.
  • Keep health care providers informed by communicating availability or unavailability of the record.
  • Support the monitoring and reporting of medication errors, suspected adverse reactions to medicines, and other medication-related events.

Recruitments:

  • Degree in Nursing / Midwifery with 2 – 3 years’ experience in HIV/AIDS care and treatment
  • Experience working with Key Populations is essential.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to function effectively in multi-disciplinary teams to produce excellent results under pressure.
  • Ability to use key computing applications e g MS Office Suite etc and knowledge of different databases (DHIS or NMRS) is a plus.
