Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is an indigenous non-governmental organization incorporated in Nigeria to provide technical assistance services on a broad range of program areas and sectors such as public health interventions, education and youth development, disease prevention and epidemics control, humanitarian programming on health, protection, wash and prevention of sexual and gender based violence. AHNi’ s headquarters is located in Abuja.
The staff consists of a team of experts and professionals who work to ensure the fulfillment of the organization’s vision and mission of enabling socio-economic development and of improving lives in Nigeria through the mutually dependent strengths of programs in public health and research. AHNi is an allied organization to Family Health International.
AHNi commenced operations in 2009 with the implementation of the USAID funded “Global HIV/AIDS Initiative Nigeria (GHAIN) project” in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and six states of Nigeria, namely, Lagos, Ogun, Niger, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Benue. AHNi’s grant portfolio includes a USAID funded “Strengthening Integration of HIV/AIDS Services project”, Global Fund “Optimizing HIV Investments for Impact”, DFID/UNICEF “Reading and Numeracy Activity (RANA)”, humanitarian projects from UNHCR, USAID Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) Nigeria, SGBV Spotlight project from UNFPA and the recently awarded USAID funded “Strategic HIV/AIDS Response Project” among several others. AHNi has presence in the six geopolitical regions of Nigeria.
